Satellite Downlinks
Low-orbiting
satellites pass around the earth in just over an hour. They can be accessed
from an earth-station for about 20 minutes in each pass.
The satellites gather data during their orbit and are commanded by the
ground stations to transmit the information as a high-speed burst while
they are in range. The ground-station may wish to transfer the information
by terrestrial link or by archive transfer to a customer for analysis,
or they may wish to analyse the data before the next burst transmission
from the satellite.

Our
StoreFast product is derived from some applications such as this, to accept
high-speed recording and provide variable speed replay. It will also support
data archiving. StoreFast internal bandwidth can be allocated to recording,
replaying and archiving in any combination to make best use of the time
available to operators. StoreFast architecture allows analysis software
to be added alongside the control software to further optimise activity
by simplifying synchronisation of events and minimising data transfers
between functional blocks of the system. The StoreFast product allows
archive recordings to be made from the master recording. The archive media,
a DVD, CD, or computer compatible tape allows important information to
be stored for long periods at low cost.
