Imagery Recording

Imagery capture in any part of the frequency spectrum from sonar, speech, through the Infrared and visual range to radar frequencies usually involves high bandwidth data capture and recording. The lower frequencies generally employ many channels to fill (and challenge) available recording bandwidth, whereas the higher frequencies fill it naturally especially to retain the good fidelity necessary for good imagery.

Our acquisition and recording products cover these areas with PCI-1000 being a specialist system for the telecoms sector and Artisan being aimed at radar I and Q signal capture. Variants of these acquisition systems and Air-Lab are aimed at reconnaissance radar and visual imagery. The acquisition units can be coupled with our range of recording systems to provide tape, solid-state or disc-based capture systems with back-up and archiving to various tape, CD and DVD options. Our interfaces are also compatible with Ampex DCRsi, Sony DIR as well as solid-state and disc based recorders. We have emulators for the Ampex recorder to assist with laboratory development prior to deployment in a rugged environment. This helps to reduce recorder wear and deterioration as well as improving access times to recorded data.

The high bandwidth signals can be carried by wire or fibre cables, both of which are supported by our products. Frame, linescan, PRF and other formats that create redundant information are rationalised to reduce recording bandwidth.
